History
JEFCO SCREW MACHINE PRODUCTS, INC. is dedicated to supplying quality Brown & Sharpe automatic screw machine products in a timely manner and at competitive prices to customers throughout the entire world. The success of Jefco is a result of our number one goal being to make quality parts for our valued customers in a timely fashion at a fair price.
The history of the Company dates back to 1960 when three friends started a small job shop, JEFCO, INC., on Broadway in Rockford. Over the years the ownership changed until March of 1988 Bruce C. Mayer and Wilbert J. Mayer purchased the Company. They incorporated under the present name of JEFCO SCREW MACHINE PRODUCTS, INC. The Company relocated to an industrial park in Loves Park where it still remains. This father-son management team had a combined total of over 48 years of manufacturing experience. Bruce started with JEFCO, INC. just out of high school. They led an employee group of skilled machinists and quality control personnel that worked together for the continued success and growth of the Company.
In 2005, Bruce’s son, Brian Mayer, joined the family business. He began helping in several areas of the shop learning all aspects of the different jobs. Brian has been our delivery driver for several years taking over for his grandfather, Wilbert. Brian has the responsibility over shipping/receiving and the secondary department.
In May of 2012, Bruce’s daughter, Rachel Thompson, started with Jefco. Rachel’s role was to learn the entire family business. Rachel worked closely with her father and all employees.
In October of 2013, the family and business suffered the loss of Wilbert. Wilbert's grandchildren, Rachel Thompson, Brian Mayer, Stephanie Edlen, and great-grandson, Alexander Thompson became part owners to this family owned business.
Sadly in December of 2015, the Company suffered another loss when Bruce Mayer passed away.
The legacy of Bruce and Wilbert's dedication to our customers and employees continues today. Rachel is the President of the company, Stephanie is the Secretary/Treasurer, Brian and Alexander have continued their ownership status.
